During provincial lockdowns, I took the opportunity to slow down and use film photography to document nature. Most of the this work was captured in my home or garden with the exception of one near by hiking trail.
My focus was mixing the details of nature and exploring soft blending effects. I wanted to express the connectivity we all have with nature. Seeing our natural world this way gave me a reflection that beauty is always around us.
These pieces were all shot on 35 mm negatives using manual photo techniques. There has been no manipulation in post production, these are layered exposures captured on a film negative. The traditional process gives the work a unique feel and cannot be duplicated the same way we use modern digital methods. The film grain in print is unmatched, canvas like.
A few pieces that have entered the hands of friends and family. With their encouragement and support, I wanted to offer a set number pieces as limited edition prints to the public.
I also wanted to offer the sale of these art pieces in an unconventional way, as a fundraiser. So that I can give back to the community. I’ve chosen the food bank as my donating platform to help with food insecurities our community is currently facing.
25% of all sales will be donated to the Ottawa Food bank. My goal is to raise $500.
