I still remember the exact moment The Missing Frame Series™ was born. It wasn’t in a studio or during a client session—it happened in my own home, in the middle of an ordinary afternoon. My son, just seven years old at the time, flipped through one of our family albums, scanning the pages filled with birthdays, holidays, and everyday moments frozen in time. Then, he turned to me with a question I wasn’t prepared for.
“Mom, where are you?”
The innocence of his voice carried a weight I hadn’t expected. I took the album from his small hands and flipped through it myself. He was right. There he was, alongside his baby sister, his father, and a carousel of friends and family members. And yet, I was missing.
I was there, of course—always behind the camera, always the one documenting their lives. But what I hadn’t realized until that moment was that my absence in these photos would one day leave a void in their memories. One day, they would look back, searching for proof that their mother was there, that she had loved them fiercely, that she had been present. And they wouldn’t find me.
That realization changed everything.
I knew I wasn’t alone in this. So many mothers do the same—pouring their hearts into capturing their children’s milestones, never thinking about the visual legacy they will one day leave behind. This is why The Missing Frame Series™ was born—a body of work dedicated to reclaiming our place in the story of motherhood.
This series isn’t about perfect poses or orchestrated moments. It’s about love, connection, and the beautiful, raw reality of being a mother. Each portrait is captured in black and white, against a dark background, allowing the bond between mother and child to take center stage. There are no distractions, no elaborate setups—just the purity of a mother’s embrace, the way a child reaches instinctively for their mother’s hand, the quiet strength in a mother’s gaze.
Today I share with you a series of growing photos with Luna and her mom. Our first session dating back to the Fall of 2019, followed by photos I captured recently in 2025.
As Mother’s Day approaches, I am opening the doors once again. I want to bring awareness to the quiet absence so many mothers experience in their family albums. You can see a special opportunity at the studio here.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re missing from your family’s story, this is your moment. Let’s change that together. Reclaim your missing frames. Because years from now, when your child turns the pages of their childhood, they should see the person who held them, loved them, and was always there—you.
